Field Trips
Field trips are an integral part of the orchestra experience! See below for additional information about field trips offered for orchestra students.
6th Grade participates in the Carowinds Music Festival on Friday, May 1st, 2026, 6:00am-10:30pm. Students will wear their current black Laing Orchestra t-shirt, school appropriate shorts, and comfortable shoes (tennis shoes recommended).
7th and 8th Grade travel to and perform in Orlando, Florida, March 25-28th, 2026.

9:45am - Load buses
10:00am - Depart Laing
10:15am - Arrival at Wando
10:30am - 11:30 - 7th Grade Clinic w/Silvestri and Wando Orchestra students on stage, 8th grade rehearsal in the orchestra room with Selby
11:30am - 12:00pm - Lunch provided by Wando Orchestra (pizza, cookies, water/sodas)
12:00pm - 1:00pm - 8th Grade Clinic w/Silvestri and Wando Orchestra students on stage, 7th grade rehearsal in the orchestra room with Selby
1:15pm - Depart for Laing
1:30pm - Arrive back at Laing
Concert Performance Assessment
The 2026 CPA is at Lucy Beckham High School

Trip Itinerary:
**Students must already be wearing their concert uniform. Students may bring a change of clothes for when we return.
8:45am - All students and chaperones meet in cafeteria
9:00am - Load buses and departure from Laing Middle School
9:30am - Official Arrival Time at Lucy Beckham HS
9:55am - 8th grade warm up
10:20am - 8th grade perform on stage
10:45am - 8th grade sight read (no audience)
11:10am - 7th grade warm up
11:35am - 7th grade perform on stage
12:00pm - 7th grade sight read (no audience)
12:30pm - Finished and load buses
1:00pm - Lunch provided by boosters
2:00pm - Arrive back at Laing Middle School

Sixth Grade orchestra students will participate in the Carowinds Music Festival on May 1, 2026.

Carowinds Trip Itinerary: May 1st, 2026
6:00am - Students arrive at Laing Middle School
6:30am - Depart Laing MS for Carowinds. We will leave on time.
9:45am - Arrive at Carowinds, go through security
12:00pm - Picnic Lunch
1:30pm - Orchestra warm up
2:00pm - Performance in the Carowinds Theater
7:00pm - Meet inside the North Gate
7:15pm - Bus Departs Carowinds
10:30pm - Arrive at Laing Middle School & Go Home
7th & 8th Grade Orlando Trip:
Seventh and Eighth grade students will go to Universal Studios during the 2025-2026 school year.
